The Song Dynasty Aesthetics in Contemporary Life

The Song Dynasty was called the "Eastern Renaissance" by western scholars. It makes the pinnacle of Chinese classical arts. This gentleman's style and manner, the rich culture accumulated trough times, and that elegant artistic temperament are all displayed in living style and furnishing aesthetics in this project. It refers to the style of the Song Dynasty, inheriting its inner spirits yet not following its format.

The solid and void in between space has its own rhythm, floating around with one's heart and the changing of seasons, thus to transforming the virtual space into an actual life. It interprets the Chinese aesthetics that reflections people's ideal vision of an Oriental style life.

The project started in July 2019 in Qingyuan, Guangdong and finished in December 2019 in Qingyuan, Guangdong.

Artistic landscaping language not only just showcases the culture context of this project, but also brings unique personality to it. In a contemporary way, bringing an ancient touch of creativity to the modern life.

What designers create and inspire is exactly the returning desire of the modern people to go back to the oriental aesthetics and spirits.

It’s in the blood for people with eastern culture background to care about relationships and solar terms. The "October Persimmon Feast" in this project draws inspiration from designers' understanding of transitional solar terms and also is an expectation expressed for returning back to the traditional way of life. This scene is both of modern life aesthetic and humane living flavor.
